Let’s jump right in to some of the findings.

* 10 out of the top 25 blog posts are actually authored by the same person. This also happens to be the top 10 most popular posts.

* These top 10 posts account for nearly 40% of all Social Tallies.

We also tried to get a feel for the kind of content shared through the social share buttons. As you can see in the chart below, blogs were more likely to share videos (52%) than articles (44%).

As you can see, the articles shared by the average author tend to be the longer ones, about 400 words or more. But with short videos getting a 56% share, and short blog posts getting a similar share of the social share buttons (54%), it’s not surprising they also account for a higher share of the viral content on the web.

This research points to the reality that it may not be about the length of the content, but the quality of the content that’s driving this popularity. You can use the blog posts as another source of content that you create and publish on your web site. For instance if you had a web site about salsa classes for adults, you can blog about your own experiences in attending a salsa class. If people enjoy reading about your experiences in salsa, you might get inspiration to publish a short video on your blog describing your own salsa class. And when people share videos, as they will if they like your content, you can get a share of the viral content action.

It’s a win-win approach. You get more traffic from the viral content, and you get a share of the social share buttons that people will share with their social network. This helps you to boost your search engine rankings, while they help you to increase your social share buttons’ share of account.

Use videos on your blog

If you have a web site that shares a similar niche to the one you are marketing, use the videos on your blog as another form of content that you create. If you like videos, and people enjoy reading your blog, you might want to share your own videos on your blog. If you get a share of the viral content action, you can get an additional boost in your search engine rankings, as people will share your videos with their social network.

And it is easy to add videos to your blog. You can do this with popular video platforms like Flip Video and you can do it with any video editor as well. You can customize your videos and your web site. You can insert images. And if you have a web site that focuses on one particular product, you can publish videos about that product, to help promote the product.

So, it’s not difficult to publish videos on your web site. But, the challenge comes when people start leaving your web site comments, asking for more videos. And you will have to figure out how to work this in with your viral content, so that people will share your videos with their social network, so that they will go viral.

Now, how to work that in with your viral content depends on the type of video you are creating. If you are making a video to promote an affiliate program, then you need to work the video into your blog, on a regular basis. If you are creating a video to sell a product, then you do not need to worry about this.

And, if you have a web site that focuses on one particular product, you can make a video about that product. And then you can submit the video to sites that showcase videos. You can submit to several video sharing sites. And in these cases, you might find that a lot of your videos are getting a lot of traffic, and a lot of attention, and a lot of comments. And that’s good.

So, you can start a video on your web site. Create a video on your video site. Then use the video to promote the product that you are promoting. You can then make another video, and submit that to several video sharing sites, and watch the traffic come in. But, just like when you start a blog, you need to manage the comments on your video, you also need to manage the traffic on your videos.

And so, the best advice is, just start a video, and make a few videos about the product that you are promoting. Then, work your video up into a web page. Then, just manage your video as you would manage your blog. And, if you are having fun with video, then more videos, and more traffic, is the perfect result. And this is where the power of video comes into play.
