Instagram is the hub for influencers seeking to interact and build their reputation for being #goals. Suffice to say, if you want to market to a place where there is constant interaction and tons of targeted advertising opportunities, Instagram is the place. While it’s easy to create a profile and start posting, how do you get others to visit your page? More importantly, how do you get them to stay?

Tip 1 – Give them value in exchange for engagement.

Fashion influencers give fashion tips, lifestyle influencers give inspiration, and you give…? The first thing you should do is figure out how to give value to your audience. And in order to do that, you need to provide high quality content that they find interesting. For example, you can show funny pictures and videos of events, but if they take a second look and think they aren’t funny, you’ll likely lose their interest as fast as you posted that video. Focus on creating positive Instagram posts and share them on your primary social media sites to build your brand and audience.

Tip 2 – Give them regular content.

Don’t forget the importance of posting regularly. Although you may not feel like it on some days, you should be committing to post at least once per day. Once you start engaging the interest of your audience, they will begin to expect more content, and are more likely to check out your page to get updates! The more content you have on your Instagram, the better the chance of your engagement rate will increase as well.

Tip 3 – Make your profile look legit and cohesive.

Choose your profile picture wisely. This is to make sure that you aren’t impersonating another brand. In addition, choose a photo that doesn’t make your profile appear as a bot account or is too pixelated with weird angles. You want people to trust you, not avoid your page!

Tip 4 – Link your other social media accounts.

If you haven’t already created your accounts on Instagram and Facebook, then you should do so now. Make sure that you put a link to your blog on your Instagram account and that you keep your cover photo on your main page. This will make it easier for people to connect with you when they stumble upon your page. If you are creating an avatar for your account, you should also upload that image on your profile.

Tip 5 – #IncludeThisInEveryPost

This will help you connect with other people who are in the same market as you. You don’t want to be posting about something that interested people will never see. You want to be able to connect with people on a personal level. Using popular hashtags can help you reach thousands of people. The more relevant hashtags you post, the better the chance you have of engagement.

Tip 6 – Add filters and themes to your account

If you are posting images, you should consider adding filters. These will help to make your account more visually appealing. You can also add themes to your account to give it an even more personalized look. You can add these features with plugins. Be sure to search around to see which plugins out there will fit your needs. You don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel.

Tip 7 – Use your own website content and pictures for your account name and avatar.

I’ve touched on this already, but it is important to have your own website content and picture. This will provide uniformed branding throughout your accounts. It will also help your blog to stand out from the others in your niche. It doesn’t matter whether you choose a static account name or one that changes daily. The important thing is to have a unique, cohesive look. If you use the same pictures for your static account name and avatar, people will be able to recognize you instantly. Just think of ways to differentiate your blog from others. If you use your own account name and picture, you will have the ability to connect with people on a personal level.
